Erasmus+ in Ostrava: A Week of Learning, Inspiration and Sustainability
28. 9. 2025
At the beginning of September, our high school welcomed eight students and two teachers from Kisjúszállás, Hungary, as part of the Erasmus+ project. The week in Ostrava was packed with activities focused on environmental education, sustainability, and ecology.
The program began with workshops at the school and the Dukla Gallery, where students explored eco-friendly practices and created art from recycled materials. They also toured the Spění exhibition, discovering creative ways to reuse waste.
Excursions brought learning to life: a trail around Bílá Opava highlighted unique mountain ecosystems, the Landek Museum offered a glimpse into Ostrava’s mining history, and the Dolní Vítkovice complex showcased the region’s industrial heritage. A visit to OZO Ostrava, the city’s modern waste management company, introduced students to waste sorting and practical sustainability solutions.
Students also explored the local area of the school, admiring the unique architectural style of Sorela in Poruba, and then visited Ostrava’s city center, including the New Town Hall’s observation tower, guided by interactive tasks prepared by Czech peers.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive—an inspiring week full of new experiences that educated, motivated, and encouraged sustainable thinking.
